They are very rare and sought-after hence the high price. Not that they are particularly nice to look at. I agree, they are very ugly, I would get the same amount of excitement looking at a L239 Blue Panaque (£20).

But then again, I agree with sted. There will always be expensive fish, I am not sure there is a need to make a song & dance whenever we see one

yes that l25 is lush and in my opinion worth more than the other but yet again its all down to the person buying the fish an other manes trash is someone else gold!!!

To be fair £1000 for a plec is pretty silly, unless you have a 12ft specialist plec tank and you are trying to build up a rare collection (which is what I would LOVE to have the space, time and cash for!)

That said I wouldnt spend £300 on a fish either unless I had won the lottery.

i was reading about those blue eye plecs.

if you want to get one from the wild these days, you have to make sure the drug gangs that inhabit the areas these plecs live dont find you. pretty sure they've not bred in captivity either.
