I haven't had any of my big fish die yet this is my first time keeping fish larger then 2-3 inches so I was just wondering what do you do with yours fish when it happens ???

I haven't had it happen yet but I think I'd dig a hole in the garden and plant something over it to use the nutrients as it decomposes. Then I could think that my fish lives on somehow.

I'd think I'd bury them in the backyard :) Recently buried my golden gourami, but she wasn't all that big.

Bury them in a plant pot to fertilise the flower/plant.

i think regardless of size a lot of people bury their fish when they decease - its the best way of parting when you've become attached to them :)

well i have grown attached to small fish before but i growing up we just flushed them, I don't kno if that sounds mean i always hated doing that but now as people gave such good Ideas like burying them too use as like a firtilliser

i have flushed my fair share 2bh but ive never really had a bigger fish die - i think ill bury them from now on though seems the nicer thing to do :)

lol I'd say tossing them in the garbage would be the harshest choice I personally say, at least when u flush em the some what go back to where they came from

I know the risk is probably minuscule, but I was always taught you should never flush fish, even dead ones, as there might be a small risk of spreading a foreign disease or parasite into the local water system.

Like I said, probably an almost non-existent risk but, knowing what havoc introduced pathogens can cause, I would say it's better to err on the side of caution and put them in the bin or bury them.

Oh yes, flushing your beloved Ex fish into a pit of feces and urine shows the greatest of respect

I'd much rather put mine in the trash than the toilet

I bury the fish I'm attached to (have thankfully only had to do that once so far) and the other fish, while I still love them, go in a ziploc baggie and a little R.I.P note written on it and put in the trash.
