A bit confused now.
Added the full dose of ammonia on the 4th.
Tested 6th - ammonia 2-3 nitrites 5+
Tested today-
Ammonia - 0
Nitrites - 5+
If it is the same on the next test do I then add the snack dose ?
Just seems a little ahead of schedule as I am only on day 17 of the cycle.

Yes, if you get zero ammonia in 2 days, add enough ammonia to get 1 ppm. Then wait for the day when you have ammonia under 0.25 and nitrite under 1 ppm.

Some cycles go faster than others; every tank is different so there's no way to say which will be fast and which will be slow.

As my nitrite is not 1 or lower do I leave as is until the next test ?

Yes wait until the next test. If that has nitrite below 1, you add 3 ppm and test in 24 hours. If it's not, wait till another test is due.

Only running one filter. An external filter that does 1400l/hr.
