So, Guppies?

Great elephants man! Have you even looked in to sexing guppies? Its incredibly easy! Heres a general rule of thumb. Males are brightly colored females are usually grayish. Unless you get fancy females and even then its easy. I will write an in depth post later for you!!! Just look up female vs male guppy and you'll see how easy it is. And yes, one way or another you are going to get another tank. It WILL happen eventually ;)
Thanks, I appreciate you're offer to write up more detailed post but there was a post put up earlier in the thread that pointed out how easy it would have been.

Every time I saw them in the store I just had this echoing voice in my head that said but they breed like rabbits they breed like crazy if you get those you'll have a hundred in a week blah blah blah!

I already have an empty 20 gallon that's not even set up!!
And a fully cycled 5 gallon.
I'm keeping the 20 gallon empty and I'm currently figuring out how to rearrange the fish I already have! Also, I have a bunch of Moneywort that I haven't planted yet.

I went to the fish store I stocked up on a bunch of food so I'm not going back for a while. In all seriousness, if I get anything more I will risk the health of my other tanks and that's no joke.
I'll post a picture of "The Fish Kitchen" sometime later tonight you'll see what I mean.

Did you ever put the sign up by the way for the FOTM contest because that's a nice looking Guppy.

I know about keeping Bettas, I've had a few and always put them in 5 or 6 gallon (which is an odd size), with only snails.
I once had a betta that lived almost 3 years and looking back I realize I had it in a 3 gallon tank with plastic plants I have no idea how that happened but I sure was lucky
I think you might be right about returning Lollypop. What will they do with he/she?

I really don't ever want a group of danios they're a little too spastic for me, although I have always admired zebra danios!

I guess I wish I hadn't got a fish just because I felt sorry for it.
They will put Lollypop in quarantine for a short while then place her either in a store display tank or re-introduce her for sale with other Danio's id say :)

They are pretty cool, i have a group of 10 Zebra's and their certainly not boring to watch.

But not in a 20 gallon tank. In a 20g long maybe. I suggest 29g at the minimum.

Zebras are beautiful.
I hope you're right about the fish store.
Maybe I'll call beforehand and set it up because I've got empty tanks so I don't need to go too far back into That Evil Den of Temptation with all those fish pushers and the glamorous lifestyle and shiny tanks not me I'm staying out of there!

My sweet little Lollypop.

My bad, I meant that the zebra danios need to be in a 29g tank, not the guppies. Yes, that is way to small of a tank for a ZD. I suggest getting a 29g and getting 5 more glow zebra danios.

I agree. That’s a good sized tank for a Betta or a couple of male guppies (you should have 1 male for every 2 females). But not together.

Well, when I got Lollypop he was to go in a 10g with 5 minnows. He was upsetting the minnows so I set up that make-shift restaurant food storage container tank.
I thought I would get my brand new empty 20 gallon going.
I realize now still there would be an issue with just having Lollypop unless I wanted to get other danios and I really can't set up my 20-gallon . I've got enough on my hands!!!
Maybe someday when I really have the time to research something to put in there I'll do it just not anytime soon.

Meanwhile what do you plan on doing with Lolipop?

How can you make sure you are getting a male?

they look fancier then females. they want to look good for them. fish, in general, are hard to tell the gender. guppies are among the easier ones to do so though.

Guppies are amazing starter fish as they are very adaptable. you don't need a big tank I would recommend a 20 gal for breading. and if serious breeder (2) 20 gal tanks. but all you really need is a 10 gal if just wanting them as pets and nothing more.

They like any other fish require
1 heater
1 filtration system
1 fish tank
and some small rocks for there environment

people will often ask what are your fish parameters. for this, you can get test stips they run under 5.00. The neat thing about guppies is your water doest have to be perfect. just close. and people on here are super helpful! if u run into issues.

mine just had babies ^-^ and im no expert

best of luck cheers
