The Texas Betta Society is hosting our very first District show this weekend in Southlake. There will be lots of beautiful fish, many of which are sitting on my dining room table as I type  I just got a huuge box with over a dozen auction only fish, along with some show babies, and a couple boxes yesterday. The rest should be rolling in later today and tomorrow.
This show is small beans compared to our upcoming International show in June. Right now we expect to host around 100+ fish, but in June it will be well over 500. So we have a lot to learn. And a LOT to keep track of but I have confidence in us :flex: We could use any help we can get so if anybody wants to stop by...
We'll also have a PET betta class so if you want to enter your fish now is the time.

Our June show is going to have a massive wild class, the first time it has ever been promoted in such a fashion. Many of the breeders from overseas will be able to show wilds for the first time. So they're sending a lot in. We will auction them online as well as in person. I need to somehow figure out a way that the online auctions can run at the same time as the live auction. It should be really neat. We'll have Gerald Griffin, who is the head of the IBC SMP, as a guest speaker, as well as Jim Sonnier and Linda Olson. I've heard that several breeders who are interested in wilds plan to come for the show as well....or come for the fish, whichever :p So if any of you can make it you are promised a good betta adventure and a good time.

I'll let you guys know how the District show goes...wish us luck!! We need it!

Wow! how exciting :hyper:

All those lovely fish on your table, you couldn't lose a few could you

Good luck with the show, sounds like its going to be awesome :D

The very best of luck to your Chapter for the show :flex:

Best of luck to your club. Hosting a show is a big adventure.

Will those online auctions be open to non-TBS members and non-Texas residents by chance? I'd love the opportunity to get my hands on some wilds.....

Thank you, Joby. We're excited!! Some of us are more nervous than others  I have the utmost confidence though...I just don't want to get anybodies non-auction fish mixed up with auction fish. That's one of the worst things that could happen (I've seen it happen! :X )

MAM~ Thank you,Missy! The wild auction fish will be available to anyone online. I'm working out the kinks and hoping to run the live auction concurrent with the online auction
We should have some wilds at the district show this weekend as well. I know one person has already registered some kapuas (starting bid 3.00) so if you want anything for a steal, let me know and I'll bid on your behalf.

Good luck with both shows.

How many of your fish are you showing this weekend, wuv? Or are you judging?

Thanks guys, so far I'm off to a rip roaring start today... :look:

I woke up to my dog making little yelps and whines to which I hollered "Shut the hell up already,Harlie...GEEZ!"...and then I realized that the express truck was acrossed the street, I almost missed some boxes!!! :look: Apparently he'd been ringing the doorbell for quite some time....ah,well. Good thing I caught him and of course I had to beg Har Har's forgiveness :p  I've grown accustomed to her crying wolf for the past few weeks (she has a bird chasing obsession) but she was spot on this time.

  sound like you need to get a louder bell i bet you have been lying in bed thinking about it all and made yourself that tired thats why you didn't here the bell............good luck and hope all goes very well for you and the rest of your team........ :kana: :kana: :kana:

Whoops, in all my almost missing box excitement I missed these... :*)

Where in Texas is this btw (I'm guessing Ft. Worth)?
Closer to Dallas. The International show in June would be well worth the road trip  I'll give you the physical address if you like.

I don't think any of mine are going. I won't want to mess with them Buuuut I would like to see them compete. I can't remember who is judging, I think Gary Kilgore, and my club pres is hoping to apprentice

Thanks for the well wishes guys

That would be great. Both shows in the same place? I would love to go see it. I wish it was more like on monday...I have to go to Dallas then. But I'm sure the International show will be better. Then I can prepare some tanks so I auction on some fish
