So, An Asian Arowana With...

demon get the green if you like them, raise it up until you got more cash to spend
that way you get to learn about aros before spending a small fortune on one
thats what im doing with my silver(cockeye)

look dont get me wrong hear im no snob and all asian aros are nice

i have also had silver and black aros i kept a black aro for 7yrs when the price of RTG were £1200

all aro are real easy to take care as long as you have a min tank size of 6x2x2 for an asian aro

ask anyone who has a RTG how happy they are with it i was real happy with my RTG in some ways i liked it more than the xback i have but im a hardcore aro keeper always have been always will be the only reason i got the xback was if i didnt their would always be a thing in my mind that i wish i got one

my point hear is green aros are a little bit more aggressive than a RTG and with a 2ft aro in your tank it look real nice with some color on it

the money you put into a green will be better spent on a RTG in the long run

with a RTG you will prety much get the looks of a £1500 xback just with a little less gold intensaty and a little lower shine level

i know £350 sounds like a lot of money to lay out for a fish but if you think you chould have that fish for 10yrs+ i dont think its that bad

just save the cash rather than i want an asian aro NOW the green seams like the chepest option

I started out with a green. I bought it got it home and was loving it, but at the same time was drolling over the pics of RTG, so I took the plunge ad good old HP drove down to me, picked up the green and gave me a RTG...obviously paying the price difference. No regrets!

Asian arowana are illegal to import sell or own in the United States so you will never see one of these for sale i'm afraid.

Now that jsut makes me sad :( . All I've ever seen were silver arrowanas  . The US sucks when it comes to gettign decent fish and to make matters worse I live in NY where it seems like many fish ARE illegal for instance piranhas are a no go for me here too. I always wanted an excuse to move maybe I'll join you guys over in Europe

another happy RTG owner B)

If you're getting an RTG, my suggestion for a tankmate would be Siamese Tigerfish, or Indo Tigerfish, which is cheaper.

I do not know how much they are selling in the UK though, but they seem to compliment arowanas IMO. They get bigger than bichirs and are middle/bottom dwellers.

So I guess you'll have to save up more for the RTG + ST :p

But it's worth it in the end :D

You guys are so lucky you can have the Asians over there. Here, stateside, asian Arowanas are illegal. Silly laws, but they just are. Our choices are Silver, Black, or Jardins. I am planning on going with a Silver in the near future.

As large as silvers get, I am going to just have to deal with it, because I have heard that the jardins have nasty tempers for the most part... =) Well, it is a fish-eat-fish world, but I would rather have my collection NOT eat themselves -thank you very much... =)
