So, An Asian Arowana With...

Ok thanks, I might forgo the aro until I can afford one lol

i have been throw a few aros in my time

started off with a cheap 1.5 banjar red looked nice and red when small but turned out like a green but with no shine £275

then i sold thats as it was a waste of tank space to have a dull looking 2ft aro swimming around

then got a RTG when they were still expencive for £550 now that was a great fish with lots of shine and color when that got to 2ft that was a real fish B)

thing have changed alot over the last 3yrs and you can pick up RTG for the great price of £350 easy and that alot of fish for the money

thanks for the advice, but I really can't shell out £350 atm, the green caught my eye because it was cheap and I like the body shape more than colour

what was the price £90-150 ?

with the price you are think about paying for the other tank mates you must be looking at £350 easy

an asian aro will be with you for years and its the centre feice of any tank

near everyone who i know who has started off with a green ends up with a RTG

so buy getting a RTG from day 1 it will save you money and about 2yrs of aro keeping

the aro is the main fish in my tank if i didnt have an asian aro i wouldnt have a tank the rest of the fish are just their to make up the numbers

So what would the next step up from the RTG be with say £500-£600 to spend?

Now i have started work on the fish house i should have a couple of new tanks coming over the next few of years and to finish my arowana collection off the Asian i get i want it to be something a little bit special so no green or RTG, though i do have to work within a sensible budget so i cant look at the really high end fish.

Damn, judging by that price guide the next step up is over a grand and i just cant justify that kind of money while i still have a mortgage to pay, not to mention trying to explain to the mrs where ive spent a thousand quid

its a big jump in price from a RTG as their is nothing in the middle

super red and xbacks are priced about the same and start from £1200 to what ever you are willing to spend

most people go for the xbacks as the develop a lot faster than a red a red can take up to 7yrs to be real red and only looks like the ones you see on the net if you add the silly nano clor inhancer lights

with xback they are like a RTG you preaty much know what you are going to get like with a RTG but the gold is 10x better on xbacks

their are loads of diffrent fancy names for high end aros like VIP redviolet fusiom just do the resurch of arofanatics and see what color form you like best

red do get a bit larger and are slimmer than xback

Looks like i'll be waiting till the year 2021 till i get my Asian then, i wonder if i can get away with re mortgaging the house and spending £10k on a fish

i chouldn make up my mind if i wanted a red or xback so i got a new strain called tong yan, rose gold or red spendour depending on which farm it comes from

its a red / xback so you are ment to get the best of both world the red fins and super gold shine

if its worth the extra money over a RTG i dont know but i had spend 5yrs growing other aro and thought it was time to move up a level i will be keeping this now for my fishkeeping dats :shifty:

oooh pretty, I like the scales

the web site you posted is from a freind of mine and were i got my aro from and were most people have been getting their RTG from over the last few years HP low is the main reason for the big price drop hes a great guy and i wouldnt buy from anyone else

Why must that be in the UK. Is there any of those in the US. I have never seen them or heard of anyone here owning one. I'll have ot hurry and get an import lisense or something then huh? :shifty:

Asian arowana are illegal to import sell or own in the United States so you will never see one of these for sale i'm afraid.
