Snowball Pleco

Is this really a snowball pleco??

It was sold to me as a snowball pleco, but I am not sure. I was looking at planetcatfish.com and the snowball fins are clear. Mine is not clear.

Looks more like a peppermint pleco to me.

That's still a very nice fish. It wouldn't surprise me that an lfs can't tell the difference between the two.

Yep, I think that is it. The peppermint pleco spots do look a bit to small.

And your LFS may be misinformed as well....

However, yours might well be a snowball...

I totally have to agree with Lady and Sir Minion. Totally looks like my peppermint. The spots are exactly the same size! I posted a pic a while back of my Ozzy, but I don't know how to post pics on threads. The snowball I saw at my lfs has smaller, yet similar spots.

On the ones that are suggested, whos under side is not black with white spots.

I went back to the lfs that had them... they are LDA33's not L033's.

Cool. Now does any one know how big they get. Planetcatfish.com don't have any info on it.

Wow.. thats a bit spotty plec - I'd have thought 6" - and got a shock in a years time!

Best tell the other half not to get her hopes up on one of those (doh too late )

EDIT - just had a search - 15-25 seems to be what sites say...
