Thankyou for all the replies to my previous query.
I have a new one that has developed over the last couple of days that I hope you all can help me with. I'm not sure how they got into my tank but I suddenly have an over abundance of snails. I've been picking them out as I see them but it's turning into a worthless cause. is there any chemicals i can add that are'nt harm full to my tank, or anything else i can do. Please help i would rather not have to break down the entire tank to get rid of them. Thanks

Not sure wot fish you already have or wot tank but the best snail eaters I know of are clown loaches. These fish do get big though so consider this before goig down this route.

There are chemicals you can use - Interpet do one I think but my knowledge of their effectiveness etc is poor as I dont use it. (I have clown loaches :D )
Put Interpet into google and see what you get.

before you resort to using any chemicals try this...

Before you go to bed tonight place a large(ish) lettuce leaf at the bottom of your tank (weighted down with a rock if necessary). Leave it there over night and when you wake up in the morning you should, in theory, find the lettuce leaf covered in snails.

Simply lift the leaf out with the snails on it and discard.

Repeat again the next night, and so on, until your infestation has gone/significantly reduced.

This is good advice... I had a slight snail infestation when I introduced a plant and I just ended up smushing the tiny hatched snails... haven't had any problems since. This method and the lettuce method would probably do if they are they are round snails.

What type of snails are they? If they are trumpet snails you may want to keep them, even if you don't care for how they look (personally, I think they are cool!) They usually stay in gravel and do a great job at cleaning things up.
