We have a planted tank with a pair of Bolivian rams. Hoping to introduce some corys and tetra soon. Have found loads of snails obviously from the plants we have bought. How do we get rid of them? Will the rams or corys eat them? They seem to be multiplying before our eyes!!!!!!! -_- -_-

Botia's are keen on snails.

thanks for that!! but is there anything you can buy to kill the snails in the tank as i have carefully planned the livestock in my tank

not sure about corys and rams...seems like the cories would eat them -_-

I had an outbreak in my old man bettas 10 gallon, he was NOT pleased  , I hand picked them out as they would appear on the glass and then I'd feed them to my loaches in a different tank, they eventually disappeared  , try not to use chemicals, your fish would probably rather deal with snails than any meds of any sort in their tank

hiya i just found some new treatment for snails and they say they work on the malayan snails as well( which are very hard to get rid of)

here the link

eSHa Gastropex Snail Remover

Harmless to fish and plants this one works only on snails, also good for bacterial blooms and hydra!
i just bought 2 one for the flat and one for back at mums for the other tank. not bad price treats 500lts i think!!

The problem with snail removing chemicals in the tanks is they can have very bad reactions on the plants. They end up dying from them. The fish can get sick too. Most of them contain coper which is toxic to fish and very toxic to plants. If you could get 3 clown loaches and they will fix the problem in under a week. They won't bother the other fish either. If that won't work there are some other ways of dealing with them but they aren't 100% sure things. I'd have to look to see if I can find them again.

heres the esha link for the snail killer chemical

says its harmless to fish, i am the guinea pig, i know some chemicals are bad for plants and fish, but maybe there are stuff that not harm them, maybe the guff on the packet is true!

will wait and see for those who are interested in my new foud treatment( not sure how new or old it is)

I tried the eSHa snail treatment out of sheer desparation - I needn't have bothered. It didn't do my plants a lot of good but worse, it didn't actually kill most of the snails. I then had a tank full of immune snails.

My pygmy loaches were the ultimate solution.

thanxs AA i wil keep that mine, only one interested it seems
