I just got back from my lfs. Spoke to the guy able snails, he told me sometimes when he gets to work he looks in the tanks and some fish are being attacked my snails eaten alive! is this true? he pointed to me the snails that seem to do it and i happen to have one of them and have yet to experience this issue. The snail is in my fry tank for weeks now. He also told me he places another type of snail in the tank and they will kill the other snails that attack the fish. I found this very odd, what do you guys think?

snails will eat fish if they are dead or dieing and laying on the bottom. Theres no chance a snail would be able to catch a perfectly healthy fish.

yep what kizno said theyre scavenges (escept assasin snails and maybe some rares but they eat other snails) theres no way a snail could kill a healthy fish

that is what i thought as well. I found this snail as a baby in my tank when i purchased live plants. i am not sure what type he is but he has grown quickly. i don't mind having snails at all i think they are neat. It's brown in colour but has almost like a dark leopard pattern to his shell. also it's shell does not seem to grow round it's going long wise but perhaps it is too soon to tell which way it is growing.

sounds like some sort of pest snail it shouldnt get to big. there shouldnt be a problem with them and he fry.

what do you mean pest snail? are they not good to keep, if it lives i will leave it alone even when fish are larger.

It sounds like a maylasian trumpet snail to me. They are not bad at stirring the substrate but I try to avoid them.

One time i found my "tuxedo mollie" dead in the tank. And when i was gonna take it out, both my apple snails beat
me there lol, and were descaling it...it was creepy lol.

Will this snail eat my live plants, I have plant that is going yellow but I believe this is due to it having small roots it's like hardly any at all. I'm hoping the roots grow out.
