The snails keep making whaste and I try to kill then when i see them but i cant keep up with them. i have washed the plant and everything else in warm water and put everything back together but they came again and the betta died :( what should i do so i dont ecouter this problem again?

BTW the snails came from the plant.

The snails didn't kill your fish, just to clarify, if you want to control a snail population then make sure you don't over feed and that there is no detritus on the bottom of the tank.

Snails won't kill your fish. It's quite hard to get no pests in the tank when adding new plants. I used Assassin Snails to get rid of all the pest snails in my old tank. But like the OP said, if your over feeding the tank they will breed like mad!

Sorry about the loss of your Betta :(.

Assassin snail? that sounds good! i will think about getting one for wheni get a new tank and plants! will they reduce the population? or just kill them completely?

hi guest!

They will kill / eat the pest snails. Depending how many pest snails you have depends on how many Assassins you need / want. I'd get 4-5 and when all your pest snails are gone you can either keep the Assassins or re-home them :).

The Assassins will/might breed too, but no where near as much as the pest snails! And it's easier to keep Asassins under control

Will assasain snails eat plants?

Assassins shouldn't bother plants. Alternatively, puffers tend to gobble up snails (and they can usually stand up to a betta).

They didn't touch mine. They had too many snails to munch on . I don't think they have a reputation for plant eating, you'll be fine :).

Once the pests are gone just re-home the Assassins if you don't want them any longer or worry about plants etc :good:
