A snail has appeared in my tank. God knows from where ‍♀️ So confused. Anyhoo, do I leave it in, or take it out?

It looks like a common pond snail, you can take it out if you want to. If you don’t take it out, it’ll keep reproducing on its own. (It doesn’t need a mate) If you want snails, leave it in there. If you don’t, take it out.

One of the down sides to having live plants is snails. Snail eggs are hard to see and it is not uncommon for them to be attached to plants, Snails do some good things like eat left over food making it easier for the bacteria to deal with and also eat algae. The down side is they can reproduce like rabbits if you over feed your fish and there is a lot of food left in the tank. I have some snails in all my tanks.

Interesting. Is your tank heavily planted? If so, it has probably been hiding for all that time and you just saw it recently.

I say leave it in there then. It won’t do any harm. :)
