Fish Crazy
millions of snails... how do u get rid of them? i need solutions for 5 gal and 10 gal tanks.
put a small upside down plate in the tank and place an algee wafer in the middle, snail with move onto the plate, lift the plate out and get rid of them even if your fish eat the wafer there will be enough left to attract the snails.
EDIT: Repeat until gone
i dont really wana kill the snails, do u think it would be ok if i released them into my local pond?
Im not an expert but from my experience and what i have been advised get a CLOWN LOACH... it will only ever grow to the size of its environment and will get RID of your snail problem.. have a 11gal tank and the loach loved it, got rid of all the snails except my gravel snails (which i didnt mind because they help maintain my tank!).
The Clown Loach is a great fish... there funni to watch as they get up to and do all sorts! Its a friendly fish which got on with my mollies, platies and neons!
A GREAT addition to a tank!!
I never actually saw him eat a snail but they were all gone..! (i had hundreds of the nasty plant destroyers!)

this statement is so wrong, they may seem to stop growing and might on the outside but on the inside there organs will continue to grow causeing them to die at a much younger age, they are also social creatures so shouldn't be kept alone!
there is a species of snail eating snail that i can't remember the name of but it reproduces at a lower rate and is more attractive looking than your common pest snail
The answer is quite simple. Releasing anything from your aquarium is a very bad idea. Some things that you release may actually survive the winter and if they do they can destroy the local water system's ecological balance. If they do not survive, you have only managed to put them where you won't have to see them dying. Either of these outcomes is at best immoral and in most places it is also illegal.
