Snail Problem?

I was buying a couple fish a while back and to my surprise the fish lady also put a snail on there without her knowing I told her and she said it was okay. At first I was a little excited to have a snail in my tank since I never had them before, it was quite small. Couple weeks later I saw more snails I didn't know they could have babies that small (no idea what type of snail it is) I know they are asexual so they don't need a partner. Now I have couple more snails and my dad's telling me they are spreading to quick. I was wondering is having that many snails is a problem I stopped counting at 20. D:

A picture would be a good idea so people know what they're looking at. I have 2 apple snails, yellow shelled. But yes, snails rapidly reproduce if given the correct conditions, didn't know it was asexual though?

It's not a problem. But it is if you don't like them :p.

Assassin Snails will help bring the number down of the 'pest snails'. Also over feeding the fish doesn't help with the breeding of the snails

Edit: Are they any of these by any chance?

That's a picture of a bit of them that I managed to remove from my tank there are way more.

No they're not I wish they were they look really nice. I posted a couple pictures of them.

They look like pond or bladder snails, and yep they will breed like crazy.

I have been curtailing my snail populations via adding Pakastani loaches to my tanks. I DO NOT recomend adding any creature to control pest species UNLESS you like the particular helpful creature and have the room for housing it correctly and meeting its needs as well as your other fishes needs. I am lucky I happen to like loaches in general and have plenty of tank space to house a good group of social loaches.

To make it easier to remove the snails you can put a lettuce leaf in the tank over night, the next morning the leaf will have snails munching away on it and you can just throw the leaf in the garbage or on your garden (provided your garden is no where near a water course which the snails potentially could escape to), carrots and zuchinni also work well as snail traps and the fish also dont mind having a pick at carrot and zuchinni too. I also crush snails in my tanks for the fish to eat, many fish show no interest in live moving snails but as soon as you crush the snails the fish have a feast.

what other spieces do you house in your tank? do you have room for an exterminator? assasin snails wil control the snails but a group of 8 puffer fish will destroy them lol

Haha, I don't have enough space to house 8 more fish maybe 1 or 2. Good to know they an eliminate them though xD.

if you have room for a decent sized loach he will clean them up but then you need to think about the space if you keep him if not move it on

Yeah I don't think I would be able to keep one of them maybe after I move I'm going to upgrade my tank but by then I'll probably have the situation under control hopefully xD.

I have 2 apple snails and I think I may have found eggs on my cover to my aquarium? Anyone help me with this?

Thanks

Do you want more apple snails or not?!

If you do, just leave the eggs. They're supposed to be above water or they'll drown. When the babies hatch, they drop into the water when they're ready.

If you don't want them, scrape the whole lot off and drop into boiling water or pop them in the freezer to kill them,

I've got different snails taking over my tank... currently waiting for my assassin snails to arrive and take care of the issue as I have gotten bored of doing a daily netting of snails!

I had a snail infestation. We ended up buying clown loach, none there now:)

Honestly, the clown loaches are more of a hassle, expense and commitment than any amount of pest snails...
