Hey needs halp
I have got a snail outbreak in my 35 gallon for some unknown reason, haven't added anything for months. There's 3 assassin snails in there but they must be vegetarian. There are baby ramshorns and MTS in there, I remove about 10 a day by hand, only for them to reappear each day. What can I use - is there a snail treatment I can use that is safe for the fish and plants that would deal with the snails?

Hi' i have 5 clown loaches to keep the snails number down because they love them in their diet.Mark

snails will only boom if there is loads of excess food, half the feeding and things will improve, removing as many as you can will help too.

Hmm I disagree with that statement because I don't feed my fish every day

Hi MermaidMel,

Okay do this for a couple of days and you should get rid of most them.

Get a small glass jar like a salt shaker. Remove the top. Be sure the jar is clean. Then put a small piece of lettuce in the jar, and fill it with aquarium water. Carefully sink it on the bottom of the aquarium. The next day it will have lots of small snails inside! remove them and repeat the process.

Good Luck
John

Nah can't do clown loaches in a 35 gallon, will try your other idea first, cucumber takes up less space lol
