SNAIL EATERS

i keep getting these tiny little snails in my tank, im fishing them out everyday but finding them more and more. is there any fish that will eat these ?

Clown loach are good but your best bet is to put a lettuce leaf in the tank over night....in the morning it will be covered in them and you can siply lift them out.

you can get snail traps, what size tank is it? and what is in it already? some loaches like snails, we found our Doras ate some, most puffers like snails; but all these are relative to the size and stock of your tank.

my tank is a uwel rekord 70 litre i have 4 neon and 3 guppies

yes the lettuce leaf is true, its the best wat to do it.

Ive never had asnail problem so Ive never done it myself but Ive seen it on the forum LOTS of times.

.....and its a cheap effective solution, try it.

The lettuce leaf trick has never worked for me, my best bet is use a type of botia loach and they eat them up pretty fast.

I bread snails for my puffers which I recently got rid of. I used to drop in an algea wafer, or a chunk of zuchini, and turn off the light. Then give a while and the snails would all be in that spot chowing down. Then you just grab them out. If you are trying to get rid of them do that, and make sure you get all the snail eggs.

where are the snail eggs and what do they look like? cause im having the exact problem

HI Funny Pie. The snail eggs look like snot, or gelaton. As they develop you will start to see small brown flecks in it. Pond snails lay their eggs on the sides of the glass, on plant leafs, even on the gravel sometimes.

I have also had a problem with snails. I have had them for years and never completely got rid of them. you only have to have one left and you get hundreds of eggs. I tend to fish them out when ever I see them, have tried lettuce leaves, didnt work still have some left behind. I find as long as I keep them down to a minimum I dont find damage to plants. or though previously they have got out of control and done serious damage. Now I fish them out as often as possible. A syphon works well, and you can just pour the water back in if your not due to change water.
