Can large amounts of smoke from bush fires effect the water in small ponds? When it rains will the smoky rain water cause problems for the fish?

We have controlled burns going on all around us at the moment. The smoke is pretty bad because of the cloud cover - bad enough to give humans breathing problems. So are there likely to be toxins dissolving in the water?

Do you run a pond filter if so I would increase it the flow of the water.
Maybe some water changes.

yes, 2 filters in the bigger one and 1 in the small one.

It started to rain so I decided to rig up some covers rather than taking any risks.

thanks for the advice. I turned the filters up as well.

The rain has removed the smoke from the air now :D
