Smaller Catfish Ideas

Bumblebee Catfish *will* eat cardinals and small fish otherwise i'd have said a few Tatia Perugiae (Honeycombe Cats) but i have seen them eat small fish and they are crepuscular/nocturnal... not diurnal.

How about a species of Aspidoras? Look and act much like Corydoras but much less common!

Or I really love Debauwi Catfish!! Kind like Ghost Glass Catfish with colour and much less common!

what are they? some kind of hoplo species?

they look great but against that cory they look a bit big....

Flagtail Porthole Catfish are lovely too! (Dianema urostriata)

there are loads of debauwi cats local to me so they wouldnt be too hard to get hold of. might be worth another look at them :good:

armoured cat,(calichthys calichthys) Mine are about 7" same temperament as Hoplo's.
Mine are in with small fish and cardinals. Don't seem to bother much.

these are great cats but dont seem to be easy to get hold of.

Royal whip tails. Have some nice ones at MA Nottm.... bit pricey though. Portholes? Barbatus?

Red Whiptails :D

I have 5 at work! Max out at 10cm and easy to keep so long as you dont make the mistake of thinking they eat algae wafers!

These guys absolutely savage bloodworm and apparently mussel and prawn too LOL looks really funny, dainty wee things. MA should either have them or be able to get them easy enough.

The flagtails arent too difficult to get hold of, trouble is they retail about £20 each  but IMO worth every penny for an easy to keep, beautiful and unusual species hat people never tire of seeing!

not too sure on whiptails. ive never had them before but arent they pretty motionless?

i think i am going too look out for a group of flagtails. ive seen them at wharf a few times so maybe they can get me some in.

thanks for all youe ideas though people :good:

I dunno, they are a bit still, the whiptails, the redones i dunno, they sit and ten they move....sit and then move....... sit and then move..... put food in and step back and they all twitch towards the food and when they think you arent looking, they jump for it lol.

Last I had the flagtails was Nov but had them for a year beforehand and they were £18 each but a good 3-4". Gentle giants!
