Ouch... you dose your tank with the plants in!? I thought those levels of ammonia would kill them. Assuming you've got the light on for them as well though?

It is discourgaged but wont kill in a day, the lights are on for 6 hours but for a few days it'll be fine... i'll watch out for dreaded algae.

This is pretty crap now. pH is 6.4! How quick is that?

Mayaswell put the fish in cos i'm going to have to be changing this water about a trizillion times a day

We've got currently...

1 x Honey Gourami
1 x Black Molly
1 x Sunset Platy

7 x Marimo Moss balls :p

Currently still awaiting our plants, guys are still sitting in darkness settling down, they're quite cute actually. We'll be getting the ram in about 2 weeks probably, the guy was familiar with the method but said he never needed to use it considering he works in a fish store he has access to what ever filter media he wanted haha.

We went to "Andy's Aquatics" after a tip off from Simonas haha.

My tank is showing Nitrites again and they keep slowly disappearing, however the Ammonia is still sky high, unfortunately the filter isn't sealing properly and I believe it's by passing most of the filter media.

Will be using the Eheim Aquaball no doubt, although I need an upgrade kit I think, one small sponge won't be enough as I want to cram some ceramic media!

Surely that could have gone in your journal, thanks for rubbing it in :lol:

Na... glad you've got fish, hope all goes well :good:

I hope so too! Can' wait for the Ram, it was sooo pretty :drool: !

Having problems with my filter in my Betta tank though :( I had to basically start from scratch as the filter casing was refusing to seal properly and sand had pretty much covered all the filter media, so had to tap wash it.

To top it off I was actually seeing Nitrite coming and going :sad:.

ammonia = 0.5
nitrite = 0.25

I can only guess that either my amazing ammonia processing bacteria have died/stalled AND/OR there is some sort of plant matter I can't see decaying...

Sounds silly but after you cleaned the out filter sponges? It will get gunked up with plant debris pretty fast when you initially plant them.
