Hey all...i was just wondering if we could get some ppl to post some pics of their arrowannas?? THX!!!! =)

There arent many arowana keepers on here, i can only think of 6 including myself and only one of those is a silver arowana (a member called Technium owns it). The others are Paul MTS and Astroboy who both have Asian arowana's, a member called Steve who has a leichardtii and myself and Chali who both have jardini's.

Heres a picture of my jardni

Hi,
I have a 8 inch silver arowana in a 60 gallon tank. I got him a month ago when he was 6 inches long. I feed him twice daily (10 freeze dried shrimps and a 2 arowana sticks in a single feeding). Could some one tell me if this quantity is sufficient or should i increase/decrease the feeding

PS: All of you who have posted pics on arowanas have really great specimens.

What you are feeding is ok but that tank is far too small, all the arowana's pictured above are in tanks that are a minimum of 180 gallons and that is considered to be the smallest tank any arowana species could be kept in. Silver arowana's are the largest of them all and easily hit lengths of 3 feet in captivity requiring tanks in the region of 400 gallons to keep adults.

You can mix it up a bit and feed frozen fish, shrimp, squid and scallops.

Crickets and mealworms are good occasionally, but can be addictive, so i feed them only as treats. For frozen foods my guy likes prawn (stuffed with pellets) and squid the best, along with freeze dried krill.

And, mine is in a 6 X 2 X 2, and its pushing it for space.

Thank you for the information guys. I shall move my arowana to a larger tank as suggested by you guys.

Hey guys!! thx for all the replies...i would LOVE to have a Jardini arrowanna but at my fish stores they are about 160$. Is this about the same price youi guys are paying for them? if you have a place that is cheaper that is near the chicago area or that is really good with shippin their fish please let me know!! =) THX!!!

iv got a silver too. hes at 2 feet at the moment and still growing and hes in a 9x3x2 tanks dont knwo what the gallonage is. will try get a pic in the weekend

All of your arowanas are absolutely beautiful! I'd love to have one, but am pinched for space and money now, but in the next couple years I'm deffinately thinking of getting one. I saw one once in one of my lfs and it was a baby and about 4 inches long with the egg still attatched, well maybe not egg, but it looked like a large drop of blood in a sack attatched to it's stomach. But it was deffinately cute.
