Hi,

I have a 15-gallon tall aquarium in my bedroom and my girlfriend figures that it needs bubbles in it. I told her it would be pointless and noisy but for aesthetic reasons she insisted. Anyway I went out and bought a 15” bendable bubble wall and am now looking for the smallest and quietest air pump on the market. Its only purpose will be visual and I would like the least amount of bubbles possible. Since it will be running in the bedroom it must be completely silent. If anyone knows of the make and model of an air pump that fits the bill please let me know.

Thanks,
Plan.

In many years of fishkeeping I have never found or heard of a silent airpump :(

best solution I ever found was to put the pump in another room and run a long airline :)

I just keep a few pumps around now for extra oxygenation on hot summer days (I wish).

Good luck though

I have an Penn-plax AirTec 2K0 for my fry tank and it is very quiet.

We have two of those and we can barely hear the telly over them. We'll be changing them to another brand on payday.

Anyone want to buy some pumps?

How much with postage to kent?

The quietest one i've used is the Interpet Airvolution. I have the AV4 which is the biggest one, and I have the second smallest Rena one, the Airvolution is quieter than the Rena one.
They do an Airvolution AV mini as well, I would think that would be very quiet. but with my bedroom tank, the air pump gets turned of at night anyway!!

I have a Pen Plax 2KO, a Rena Air 50 and a Tetratec Whisper AP30

Out of the three the Tetratek is by far the quietest !
Add an inline bubble speed control valve and the Tetratek is extremely quiet !!

There all the smallest models in the range but the Tetratek is the biggest due to extra sound absorbtion materials being used.

Only costs about £10

I've used a lot of pumps in 30 some years of fishkeeping. Just recently bought a Rena (400, the largest size) and I truly cannot hear it running. You will still have bubbling noise, but I find this to be soothing anyway!

I have not tried the smaller versions, I can only assume the quality will be the same.
