Hi
I was wondering if anyone could help, one of my panda corys (i have two and one albino) seems unwell. He has no physical symptoms i.e no fungus or spots etc but is swimming to the top of the tank quite frequently and also going behind the filter and getting stuck! None of the other fish seem unwell however I did have two albino corys but one died a few days go i think she had fin rot which i was medicating with melafix which helped but obviously not enough. I have a feeling that he may just be feeling a little battered due to having two clown loaches which continuously chase each other and bash into the other fish. Could this be an issue? I have just isolated him in a hospital tank that floats in the tank to see if this helps. I don't really want to medicate the whole tank if its just because he is tired of being pushed about and its not bacterial or fungal. Any advice would be appreciated.

What is the Ph of your water?

About 7.5 I cant test any other parameters because I've run out of the test strips but I last did a water change a week ago. So everything should be ok.

Thanks. I just had a thought about the Ph, but it's not that I think.
Just for your information which maybe right or wrong, melafix and labyrinth fish like corys may cause deaths. But that's another unproven story.

I would do a good water change if I were you trying not to disturb the cory too much in the process, as you don't know if there isn't ammonia or nitrite killing the corys, as they are more sensitive. Especially the finrot problem you had suggests that this maybe the issue.

Also, make sure your filtration is good as melafix may have affected the oxygen in the water. Corys live at the bottom where there is least oxygen. Did you use carbon to remove the medication after? What is the other fish you have?

Additionally, as anyone around here may comment on, don't use strips as they are incorrect. Buy a good liquid master test kit. They last a long time so it is worth the price

Yes I used carbon to remove the melafix and did a water change as well, our filter isn't the best I did buy a much better one than this (so I thought it was a fluval) but it packed up the other day so I went back to the last one I had (a interpret one that came with the tank) I made sure the white foam went back into the filter so that wont be an issue. I have aeration on at maximum all the time. I have two clown loaches, 4 rasboaras, 3 cardianal tetras, one albino cory and the two panda corys. I use a liquid test for ph but will endeavor to get better tests for everything else.
Thanks for your help.
