Hi all, I just wondered as to whether anyone would have any insight on what could be wrong with my Ceylon puffer fish (Trevor). He has been looking sick for a couple of weeks now. By being sick I mean he spends his days just under the filter hovering, lost all of his personality and he has barely eaten anything. Maybe 3 or 4 cockles in 2 weeks. I have noticed that his teeth appear to be missing, is it possible that he could have broken them off? He is in high end brackish water and was perfectly healthy until like I said 2 weeks ago, waking up to a sick fish...He seems to be getting worse too. If he has lost his teeth if there anything that I can give instead of hard shelled food, and will they grow back eventually?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks Ben

hmmm well then he needs to eat something soft.. try feeding him soft foods like fish.. cooked fish if you want, but needs to be plain. to grow bone it needs protein... try giving tuna to him. if he starts eating it then he should start recovering, but that's all i know :( sorry i couldn't be a bigger help

Thanks for the advice, so do I just go to the fish counter and ask for Tuna or will canned tuna be ok for him? Do I need to cook it?

Thanks Ben

You don't need to be giving cooked food, most of the goodness will be lost. Just feed prawn, mussel etc cut up into manageable pieces and use feeding tongs to give to him. If you feed him snails just crush them first. I have no idea if the teeth will regrow as I have not experienced this problem with my puffers :/
