Hi,

William is sick, he has a bloated body, and by the looks of it it's fluid but his scales are fine and he's swimming around, also ate food when I gave after 3 days fasting, put Bettafix in the water.

It's a 24l tank around 26-27 temp.

Thanks

How quickly did he get fat like that?
If it was overnight then it's fluid and an Epsom salts bath might help.

If it happened over a few months than it's probably a tumour and there's no cure.

Hi,

Thanks for the response, probably been a couple of weeks.

I'll try the epsom salts. Do I dissolve some and put it in the tank or another way?

Thanks

Epsom salt are added to a bucket of aquarium water and the fish is carefully scooped up in a small container of water and put in the bucket for 15-30 minutes. Then the fish is scooped up and put back in the male tank. This is usually done once or twice a day for a few days or until the swelling goes down.

The reason for scooping the fish up in a small plastic container of water is so it doesn't get lifted out of water in a net. If it comes out of water the pressure can damage the internal organs.

I'm not sure on the dose rates for Epsom salts, I think it's 1 heaped tablespoon of Epsom salts per 20 litres (5 gallons) of water, but see if others know the dose rate before using mine
