Yeah thats my tank, a little overstocked i admit but until i find somewhere willing to take that flippin pangasius and severum ive been left with thats the way it is. The water quality is fine and its got heavy filtration with a big pond box filter, over tank trickle tower and 2 eheim 2217s and thats what is important in the end.

looks ok to me :D

what size are the motoro ?

The largest female motoro is around the 16" mark (picked her up from K.O.D on sunday) the male in the front right corner is around 14" and the other female that cant be seen in the pic is around 12". Im hoping that with a good sized female in the tank they may produce some pups, the male is VERY mature and has been trying to mate with everything in the tank recently. He was trying to mate with the new big female within about 10 minutes of her being in the tank so hopefully he might get his way before long.

ah so she came from steve and kate :D

if she is 16inch the tank looks 36 wide she looks like she has loads of space :good:

The angle of the picture makes it decieving, as well she has probably 4" of her disc up the rear wall of the tank which makes the tank look larger, it is in fact only 30" wide but she still has a fair bit of room as you can see.

I really need to get my arse in gear and put some cash together for a larger tank, ive got room for a 9 foot long and 40 inch wide tank in the fishroom but having only bought the house 6 months ago my wallet appears to have become a black hole, money goes in and vanishes :( It will happen eventually as i am obsessed with getting bigger and bigger tanks and nicer and nicer fish, it just wont be any time soon :(

your male sounds desperate  i cant wait for my male to start trying it on but it will be a long time yet tho :(

well from what i can see in that pic a 16inch ray looks ok to me in a 30inch wide tank :good:

which is great for me as my rays should max out at that size and i have a extra 2inch to play with

cane you will be shocked your small male is bigger than my rays were 18months ago once they are in the new tank he will grow very very fast and motoro mature faster than other rays so it is posable that you may see something this time next year as you female is already big
the smartest move you done was getting a male that size compaired to the size of the female

i like the look of a packed tank now even if its the 1st time i have kept 4 x rays
im selling off what i dont need now as i have some bad problems with my eyes and selling a few fish will make the tank easyer to look after i was thinking about selling the tigrinus but can bring myself to do it as i have the 4 x 10inch tigers i want so im selling one of my small wide bars (5inch) and my smaller new guine tiger (5inch) to a guy in cornwall who called me about a add i had on free adds a year ago when i sold the tigers off last time

the way to tell is by the claspers aint it.im thinking about getting a tank divider to split the male from the female.the male is not putting on much weight and its difficult to wein him with the female around

yeh the claspers are the place to look if they are open then the ray is near/or mature

i wouldnt put the divider in all the time maybe just at feeding time them remove it after food

you have to spot feed rays throw in loads of food at each end of the tank the throw stuff for the one ray then throw food at the smaller male

it can take months for a ray to put weight back on just throw loads more food in its not funny how much food im putting in now for my tank

thats excactly how im feeding them.mussles at one end of the tank for the fat female and worms at the other end for the male.the only thing with that is the female has learnt what im doing

it will get better as the ray gets more settled mine was doing the same as yours i throw loads of food one end and the 3some would eat all the food as they were eatting i would throw food ontop of the shy male

but then my smaller female sussed it and stayed with the shy male rather than feed with the larger pair

now the shy male is the best feeder and shoots in and out of the other rays stealing food from them when they do that playing with a bit of food between the eyes that rays do :)
