Look, just measure the amount of space for the 2 tubes. Stick a bit of masking tape where you need to cut and draw a cut line on it. Using a small junior hacksaw gently cut. The plastic is not brittle so it wont crack. Remove tape and finish with a fine grade sandpaper.

What a fuss Absolutely no need to run the 2 filters in your case

No, I have the newer model where there are simply two dips at the back.
