Should I sell this filter?
image.jpg

It’s a MarineLand Biowheel 80g. I got it in a Craigslist buy, but it doesn’t have the actual bio wheels or the cover for them. I figured I could get around $30. Thoughts? (It’s originally worth $50+:https://www.chewy.com/marineland-bi...lTI2_Z5MMuUddu2_Yu5Qx7i5SKdt-qHwaAuiCEALw_wcB

(Obviously I would have to clean it up first, but I figure I can sell it in LetGo, Craigslist, or my LFS.)

If its surplus to requirement and you could get a little bit of cash for it then why not, but saying that, its always a good idea to have a back up filter just in case :)
It's absolutely huge. It doesn't fit on any of my tanks and the flow is so high, it disturbs my sand. I think I will try ti see it - thanks. :)

Being incomplete, (no cover or biowheels) it might be hard to sell. Save it as a backup filter should one of your filters fail.
Do you have the long input tube?
Yes, that’s the part in the middle. The end to that is in the left compartment.

I am still considering wether or not I should sell. :dunno:

It appears you’re missing the long input tube extension piece. It should be about 6 inches long.
I think you’d have a hard time selling it.

Are you speaking of this?

I think it should have another extension that has a mid section strainer that you can close or open. My penguin 200 has it.

The marineland/ penguin 350 is selling for $27 brand new delivered on Amazon.

I recently tried to sell a lot of my old stuff and basically didn’t sell anything but some driftwoods and all the glass. No one ever bought filters air pumps old bulb style light fixtures Anything like that... I hate to pessimistic... maybe you will have better luck in your area. I ended up tossing a lot of it.... the old fish room got turned into a baby room and all my unused stuff got put in storage for years. Ended up being pointless should have tossed it then. Like I said... I hate to be a downer... just sharing my experience. Good luck either way. It never hurts to have a backup

I think I will try to sell. As all of you have said, it probably won't work. But, I want to at least try. If the sale doesn't go through, I will keep it as a backup. :)

(By the way @Fishmanic, the filter I have is the Bio-Wheel Emperor 400, 80g - not the 300. ;))

You can always try! But put yourself in the customer's shoes. If you need a filter, what would you be looking for, how much does everything cost (check Amazon), would you want a used incomplete set, etc. If you wouldn't pay $30 for this item, others may not either.

Plus as someone said, you can buy this brand new for $27. It doesn't matter how much this item was originally sold for, it matters how much potential buyers would spend on it.

EBay has them for same price. They have dropped a lot in price. Wish the Aqua Clears would. Lol. I don’t think you could get anything for it.

Honestly I don't think people are too fond of buying partial products plus I have noticed the lids play a big role in keeping the filter quiet.
