personally i vote no but you can just vote for anything just be honest as possible please :D thanks

I think yes just for the simple fact that most of the poeple receiving the goldfish are kids and it gives them the reponsiblity of keeping a fish. If thats what they do with it. Also its a steping stone for future aquarium keepers

NO NO NO NO NO

ive seen what happens
a little kid walks up wins a goldfish, buys a tiny less that 1gal bowl, gets bored and dumps it
seen it loadsa times. In my pond i have over 11 goldfish that are unwanted from fairs and it is cruel. The fish are bagged for hours and are often desised leading to any other fish in the tank becoming infected. And if it is a suprise gift the new owner obviously isnt going to be prepared for the responsibility of owning one of these huge magnificant poo machines!they arnt as easy to keep as people might think...............

I was talking to my BF about Goldfish at fairs (as you do  ) and he told me that his friend won one at the fair we have in town a few years ago but he didnt want it so he just put it, still in its bag, into the river :/

But then.. my first ever fish was a goldfish i got at a fair and i think thats still alive in my dad's pond so its not all bad... 'Maybe'?? :/

it is now illegal for any organisation to give away any animal as a prize.
this applys to fairs and goldfish.
if you know of a fair that do this then contact the RSPCA so they can stop it.

Yes Yes Yes

Ive seen a lot of them well taken care of by their new owners. You make it seem like thats every f-in kid out there just tosses them. Their usually facinated by fish. Im talking about young young kids. the ones that their parents win for them. The ones that havent started school yet. KIDS!!

NO,

it's the minority of winners that actually take good care of the fish.

so many customers have come into work asking for a bowl "sorry we don't stock them" then they asl for the smallest tank which is usally arounc 40 quid and the usal line is oh no it's only a goldfish, we don't want to spend that much.

it might be better if they gave away fancy goldfish as they can live in a smaller tank but common goldfish is just stupid.

well i am a kid and im sorry but tell that to all the goldfish that live in bowls all their lives unable to turn round cleaned out once a month...............IT HAPPENS
fairs are making it worse,it might seem like a cheap and easy way to get a pet well think of the fish in all this.If the kids want a pet then they should get off their backside,go to the pet shop and buy one minus the bowl

im not voting lol but yes and no ,yes if there kept in humane conditions and yes if there only given out to youngens with an adult in tow

4 fish in my pond are now into there teens and they came from the toon moor(hoppings)

to the best of my knowledge they banned the practice a few years ago but if the fish are gonna be given a chance of a home instead of life in a plastic bag then im all for it and as stated weve all got to start somewhere

I recently took my daughter to a fair they they had a lot of goldfish in neat little tanks with lids for each. they even had a little bit of fake grass in it with rocks. its a very small container maybe enough to hold half a gallon but very nice. im not sure what conditions are the ones youve seen but i usually see them like this. so maybe thats why im not really that mad at goldfish being in carnivals in such

although i agree that it is a stepping stone, fact is KIDS do not want the RESPONSIBLITY of keeping a fish....they want a deocration that interacts with them

thats true but again this is all very general declarations. remember theirs good and bad kids.

but if there's 1 good kid that takes care of the goldfish really well gets it a nice sized tank out of of 10 goldfish to give away.

thats only 10 goldfish given a good home out of 100 and 90 goldfish die with in weeks.

it's a shame a nice thing has to spoilt because of the bad kids but thats just life.
