Shortage Of Bn Plecos

It must be a patchy issue as mine sell for stupid prices on e.bay. Everyone who buys them says they cant get them locally.

loads of the bloody things up here aswell.....no nice plecs though, cant get Tigers, Clown or Arabs for love nor money

Well I have seen them at petstores before and I got mine locally that's why I don't get why I can't find any. Maybe I should call around and look into breeding them if nobody can get them and try and get petstores to buy these instead of selling common plecos.

Anybody have any expierence breeding BN plecs know if it's a time consuming, i'v heard it's fairly easy.

Dead easy, at least it has been for me. They need a cave, or preferably a couple of caves, a steady supply of food (algae wafers, cucumber, zucchini, lettuce) and some bogwood. When Daddy bristlie takes up permanent residence in his cave, it is a sign that things are happening. He entices her in and they spawn, then he stays in the cave fanning the eggs until they hatch and for a few more days until the fry have consumed their yolk sacs. Eventually, after about 10 days, they manage to escape his vigilance, and when he realises he has been abandoned he, too, will emerge. My babies feed on cucumber, zucchini and lettuce.

Tssh ya unfortuanatly considering I would have to get a female from somebody online too and I have to convince lfs's to buy from private breeders since they won't currently before I will strat breeding. Thanks for help everybody.
