well of you stopped importing drugs youd be able to spend more time at home and less time being interviewed

Too many drugs out our streets, everyone seems to know someone who can "deal".

Does anything happen if I actually report someone?

problem is, the legal ones are far more dangerous. and effect, many many, more people. as a result, the spending, reflects how big the problem is. the police, and border agency, do splendid work trying to control the import, though.
last figures i could get (2006), suggest 280,000 problem drug users live in the uk, as a proportion of 60,000,000, its minuscule. its only when you view it like this, that the apparent lack of action makes sense. whilst the problem is popular with the press, hard drug use, is a tiny part of the agency's work.

now on softer (?) drugs, like marijuana, the problem is reversed. there was a study done, Western Kentucky University, in 2004. that suggested over 8% of the population use cannabis. so somewhere between 5 and 6 million people smoke or eat it. what do you do, though its illegal, can you arrest them all? then look at the problems smoking or eating POT causes society. which is, eerrr, nothing. or as close to nothing as you can get with 5-6 million users. so though popular, press wise. its simply not work acting. (in the vast majority of cases).

but to answer your question. if you report a guy for selling grass/hash, more likely than not, no action will be taken. though your report will be noted. if you report a crack or scag house, though action may not be immediate. its, more likely than not, action will be taken.

It annoys me thoroughly that such cannabis dealing goes on however so much money changes hands in the space of a week and that no one cares.

Simonas lives not so far from where I grew up and well I'm not impressed with how many drugs are actually on our streets there.

In response to that "Should we arrest them all" on the 8%... well this is where I hate the way things worse. I know its a completely different issue but if we perhaps apply this to driving and speeding bans...

We all know so many people speed and we all know so many get away with it, for the ones that don't and they get shafted how is that fair? Look at this in a drug way and it's just as stupid in my eyes. Though we can't have it work perfectly!

To be honest I disagree about the responses toJoshuas question

Its more likely they would do something over cannabis as its cannabis they seem to deal with most in the drugs raids, probably because its the most popular drug and theres more weed dealers than anything else because as the perceived smaller risk

If you told the police it would give them the info to go the magistrates to get a drugs warrant. Thats pretty much how they get their info for their drugs warrants

Apart from alcohol being far worse than anydrug in my opinion cannabis skunk is also a major underrated problem with people committing offences to pay for it unlike the perceived a bit of weed a week for a sly smoke image

Now its £20 a 2g bag people are smoking 1,2 or 3 a day and thats a lot of money to find for that harmless drug that should be legalised!!

interesting to hear your view.

one point though. 1-3 2g bags a day? the number of people who abuse cannabis to that level is, considerably less, that those who abuse heroin and coke. that's put into question the major underrated problem, of theft to support the habit.
your average pot user is the guy sat next to you at work, on the bus/train or down the pub. they work, support their families, and cause no trouble to society and have a bill for their habit of about £40-60 per week, which they pay for by working. this fact has always affected how it was policed.

personally i feel the major problem with all drugs is, their prohibition, this forces their sale and supply into the hands of organised crime. now whether you agree with their use, or not. that's the daftest place to have it. and with 5-6 million users, pot could be a real revenue for the government. this would also allow it to pay its way, for any problems, its use cause society.
alcohol, conversely, needs much tighter restriction. it is an incredibly dangerous drug, and costs this country a fortune. we need much tighter restrictions on its use and sale.

I agree with this. And anyone who has ever smoked, or been in contact with someone who smokes pot would know that it is really not that bad at all. I would put a restriction on it similar to drink driving, as driving stoned would be just as dangerous.

But all in all, legalise cannabis and tax it. Make millions, pump it into the NHS.

And I also agree with alcohol needs tighter restrictions, it's far more lethal than cigarettes and pot, but they're the ones people always moan about.

the government could make more
money out of cigarettes if they dropped
the price of them they are losing more
revenue from cigarettes to the black
market.i have seen the long term
psychological affects of cannabis on
a friend of mine who is now a
bipolar schizophrenic
and i have also seen the affect
drink can have on people like my
mate Simon who as been dead for
15yrs or more and you use tobacco
to smoke cannabis anyway all the things
we have been on about have pros and cons
or there all as bad as each other me myself
used to get high on life but even that as
as it pit falls

right that's my rant over i wont comment anymore
on this thread
