i have two acaras…
One i got in December he’s an electric blue acara and he was i imagine was 6 months? Or however old they are when they sell at fish stores… he was only a few inches long then. He is now about 4.5 inches long and assuming a year old ?

I got a new one who is just a blue acara
He is same size as when i got my first one ( few inches long)

so they are about half a year apart the new one is young still but i uploaded this video of the younger acara (darker one) shaking like he’s mating ? But I’m wondering if he’s too young / small to do so? Idk I’m new to all of this. Hoping to get some experienced acara owners advice :)

they both get along really well. My electric blue acara (the older one) is super mellow and sweet and they just seem to be great mates. No other odd behavior or anything

I think you have a pair the darker one being a female, she is saying how about coming over to my place honey. Lovely looking fish by the way.

The blue acaras are displaying in preparation for breeding

Put a picture on the back of the tank to make the fish feel more secure.

Make sure the rainbowfish get plenty of plant matter in their diet. Duckweed is a good plant to have growing on their tank and most rainbows will eat that. You can also feed them vege flakes and offer bits of fruit and veg like pumpkin, zucchini, cucumber, etc.
Do not feed them onions or onion relatives, and no potatoe.

How do i feed them that without the other fish eating it ? Is it ok for the other fish to eat too? The acaras
