Can anyone tell whether my GBR is male or female. I've read the various descriptions on-line and it seems to show signs of both sexes

Definitely male. There are no blue spots visible in his black spot which is an easy way to tell them apart.

thanks ladies and gents. Generally consensus is male.

He's in a community tank with other non-cichclids. So am I right in thinking that if I want to add one or two other dward cichclids such as Kribs or Apistos that I should stick to females?

Oh and I'm not married. lol

Nope, not married.

Males of other species would be ok. Each will have its territory, but without females should remain fairly peaceful with one another.
