So I came home today to find one of my juvenile male bettas had gotten stuck behind a log ornament and in his attempt to get out, had pretty much torn his left eye out and lost some scales off his head. He also appears to have ripped a fin or two (hard to tell because they were really badly damaged when I got him a few weeks ago). The eye is still attached to his head, but not by much. It's pretty gruesome.
He seems pretty poorly, he's just floating down near the bottom of his tank. I am not sure what to do/what I can do for him, if anything, any suggestions would be a great help.

Really sad, he was about to go to a new home in a few days. :(

could you get a picture at all? but some anti fungal meds in *Myxazin if in the UK works brill for this* to stop infection setting in

I can try to get a pic, but it won't be till the morning at least, his tank doesn't have a light, so I won't be able to get anything properly decent until daylight. I am in New Zealand, and to be honest I have no idea about any meds for fish that are sold here, but I will have a look for it tomorrow.

Not sure he'll survive the night anyway, it looks like he might of hurt something else as well because he is just sitting at the bottom of the tank and didn't eat. Also seems to be unable to swim straight... perhaps head trauma?

He didn't survive the night. Poor little guy... :(

sorry for your loss.

:-(

Thanks. I feel so bad, because he was meant to go to a new home today, in a giant 200L community tank, which he would of loved, he was a great community fish, very peaceful... New Owner was gutted when I emailed her last night about his injury, so I am letting her have the other veiltail boy I was going to keep because he's such a looker.
