Hi Everyone
I have been thinking of setting up a new tank for Discus. My tank is 1 metre long and i think it holds about 200 litres. In the past i have kept Angel fish, Siamese fighters and some of the more common tropical fish. However i have always wanted to keep Discus, after reading up a bit about them, i am a bit concerned about the water, i keep reading that you should use reverse osmosis water for them, my local aquatics dealer tried to sell me his water. Can anyone tell me is this necessary or could any tap water be adapted to suit? At the moment i have a couple of goldfish in the tank which i am looking after for someone, when these go back in a couple of weeks i plan to start on my new project. I would be very grateful for any help and advice you could give me, and also any good websites and books you could recommend. Many thanks in advance Neil.

Try looking at www.simplydiscus.com or UK Discus Association. Both have loads of information.
Wether to use RO or HMA or tap water depends on how bad your tap water is; the sites above will give you loads of info.
