Hi. I have about eight teenager Guppy fry. They're beggining to get color on their tails, and I can tell apart the females from the males (gravid spot is visible & fins). I was wondering if it would be a good idea to separate the females from the males, I remember reading somewhere that premature pregnancy can stun their growth. What should I do?

Yes, it's a good idea, though if the males have gonopodiums, it's most likely too late already. I'm not sure about premature pregnancy stunting their growth, since they usually don't have fry until they are a few months old, but it's not good to have inbreeding going on, unless of course you are trying to develop a specific trait. :)

Well I would say they're about a month old, maybe a month and a half. And no I'm not going for a specific trait.

I'd seperate now then. It may be too late, if the males have a gonopodium, but it's better then not. :)
