Seahorse Nano Setup

umm i've seen many videos with a cubic foot tank.I would have thought that the 6 inch ones would need bigger tanks tho

is it mean to feed him guppies that my brother has bred lol?

i am also going to liner the bottom with a piece of acrylic to stop smashes! exept i heard the spearing type can't break it i can to be on the safe side :hyper: I think ill need around 2inches of sand and a pvc tube for his borrow. Items i need when i get back from up north on saturday.

Thats an interesting question about the guppies - is it the same as me saying to Princesscoral, well when your mollies have babies they will be eaten by the angels, I think it's nature but many don't. I don't have a problem feeding young fry, which you have breed - the problem is when people buy them from lfs, you never know what they might be carrying.

I expect to have people disagree with me, everyone is entitled to their opinion - but it seems rather hypocritical when most of those same people eat fish themselves!! However I certainly respect people who do not eat meat or fish and want to take the moral high ground, they deserve to :good:

ps please don't flame this thread, if that happens I will delete this post and not answer the flamer!

i couldnt agree with you more. Maybe I will place one in and let nature take its course. Apparently for the size of the mantis and that its a spearer it will not burst the tank and that it is a rare occasion lol. (I hope it is)not wanting to come home to broken glass, ruined laptop. filter run dry and heater burning hole in my desk! touch would. not to mention the mess of the carpet.

And of course a mantis roaming free - click, click  - climbing on your face at night  wanting a taste of flesh..................

argh lol im going to put my coral gravel in today and hopefully order my £28 mantis shrimp (yellow one) cant wait piccies later today :) :hyper:

just seen that mantis hes real nice

youve made me start a new tank lol a 1 gallon pico reef

lol awesome! i was debating a reef, but i decided against it due to time invovled lol my little skimmer is in there now and some beasty filter. which is rated for up to 300L! Im keeping the sponge in there due to lack of LR (only got a small piece) so hopefully it will be good at turning ammonia into less harmful nitrates

well here are those pics, you can see the LR on the top right and i feel proud of my tank soo far. just neeed the mantis. you guys got any tips, ideas etc to help me??? thats coral gravel on the floor btw mixed with live sand.

 theres my sociology hw i should be doing instead of this  but itll be fine, this is more fun! :good:

Just out of interest, what is the thickness of the glass in this tank? If its the 3mm stuff, I'd be a bit concerned about the #29### smashing the tank. Some species of mantis are real heavy hitters. All you'd need is a moth landing on the glass and your shrimp thinking "lunch time" lol. If its 5mm you should be ok.

I'm trying to convince my brother into getting a mantis shrimp for the tank I built him. I'd wait till he went out, put a picture of his face on the front of the tank and feed it. Then when he performed tank maintenance... SLAAAAAP lol. I'm wicked, I know :sly:
