Just foreshadowing what's gonna happen a few posts down pretty soon. Almost everyone's gonna be included in these. :shifty:

Allright. let's begin....

he's settled in well. The flash took away some coloring. he's gorgeous and settled in fine with the other eels, no problems thus far. Up the eel count, upp the eel activity.

And the other new guy. his fins are torn bad. they were in with cichlids or something bad.

Just to compare his colors and fins to one of the ones living in my tank for a while. And looky! one of my peacocks dug in the background! ever since the new guy came in, they've been digging quite a bit instead of using the plants, but only when I turn the lights from off to on... hmmm...

You get one chance to take a pic of this guy usually before he runs back to the log. I kept messing them up till now.

The beast of the tank.

Or so he seems  He was in this position for about fifteen minutes, using my plants as a hammock, untill he finally opted to get up, get air, and go back to being his crazy run around the tank self.

That's all, folks!

For now. :shifty:

thanks. he's eaten his share of things... but I love him too much to let him go.

Tut tut gank!!!! all fish refered to as male eh !!! hmmmmmmmmm lmao very nice pics thou Let you off!!!! :shout:

thanks. I do dare say that my portholes who have been in a while have tails as stunningly colored as Zebra plecs. Too bad their whole body isn't like that

hey barracudda. I've seen the minimum suggested for portholes at 25, which is a tank I may be getting very soon. Any suggestions in the setup besides heavy planting?

edit: thanks hel. despite supposedly being territorial, he evel lets the peacocks lie on top of him, as they like to do with each other.

the bichir is 5 or 6 inches. he's silly. I got him to hand feed for the first time the other day :hyper:

Haha great! :good: My newest snakefish is a bit slow on the idea, but hes getting there. Not quite the great predator anymore.
I also hand fed the columbian apple snails yesterday, not that anyone will care............

you can just toss the snail on top of the veggies oo' so... technically... you hand kill the veggies?

All I do is just get a piece of sprinula flake, hold it near its mouth and wait for it to take it. That is, if they will stop mating.
Yup, its not exiting or exilirating, but simple things, simple minds.

Well, like you said, plants are good because they will rest on the leaves and also they will sit under the leaves and rest. Mine spend 90% of their time either in a cave or sitting in/under plants. Caves would be good too. Of course, the substrate should be sand because they will dig in the sand just like cories. I have also noticed these fish will "hover" at times too. By the way, I am keeping mine in a 55 gallon at the moment, but the plan is to get more and give them their own 30 gallon. They are among my favorite fish :good:

I had thought of a 30.... but a 25 might be falling into my lap.

Free stuff hitting their minimum v.s. $60 more, when that 60 can head towards better filration?
The tank will also need a hood, light, and so forth. All which I'll save up for off household stuff. no more energy drinks here. Spring break's gonna be spent working on the farm half of it.

And yes, for the half banded eel, it will be sand.
