OK, so here is my situation: I currently have a completely cycled tank with ugly chunks of granite and sandstone gravel. It's really large substrate and totally friggen' hard to clean. Plus I'm getting a purple Goby, so I need the super fine sand. So, my plan is replacing the substrate with some sand that I'm currently cycling. I have about 80-90 pounds of sand in a big ol' plastic tub with 15 gallons of tank water and 10 gallons of prime treated tap water. I've got a heater set to 80 degrees and a powerhead to cycle it. I'm planning on running the setup for basically a month and yanking the rocks and replacing them with the sand. Anyone ever done this before with mature fish?

Anybody out there? Also, one other question - Do I need to have a lamp on the water / sand? I currently do not, so all I've got is the powerhead and the heater. It does get access to fresh air supply via holes in the handles (hard to describe without a picture, I'll try and post one). Thanks,
