Salt Newbie

yep the codes royal for anyone wanting anything off aps...

i have my eyes an a wavemaker so i'm sorted there

i'm looking at the boyu's if i dont win 1 of the v200's

tanks all cleaned out ready and i have the coral sand ready to start filling it soon... my lfs charge £6.50 for ro salt water 25l which i thought was pretty good so i'm just gona buy it from them its only a £ dearer than the ro which is justifiable...

i just need to find about 10kg of live rock nice and cheap its £9.99 in my lfs

quick Q about lighting...

in the lfs they had led's runnin on the coral tanks are these suitable..? and where's a cheap source of them i will check the bay out but anybody got any advice on marine 1's

I think you could put in one of the smaller gobies or blennys, I wouldnt put anything more in! Re the skimmer, if you are doing a good 20% water change every day, your size tank should be fine, however, to be honest, I would always suggest using a skimmer - you can get a cheap boyu for now, they do an ok job

I picked up a boyu one from ebay (wg-310), after a about 14 days it has settled in and started to produce decent quantities of foam, before hand it was pulling in murkey stuff so it has been doing the job well enough for now. I only paid about £12 for it so :good: from me.

Also powerhead wise I just went for a cheap sun sun one, as so far it seems to be doing the job for the money.

didnt think any that cheap would work well.....hmm...

Neither did I but in fairness both units seem to be doing the job, I'll probably be replacing the skimmer when i get a good buy on a better unit but for the moment it's doing the job.

No such thing as cheap leds, unless you are a sparky :p

You can pick up aquarays 500 for approx £45 now, just about to add a pair on to my tank :good:

well guess what...? i am :D but what led's would you buy...? i dont know which 1's would be good for corals

Lighting wise I put in 2xT8 marine white which is doing me fine for the moment, I believe long term though you'll be looking at a new t5 set if you want a lot of corals, at least that's what I've been told!

cool i am going for 2 t5's and using the stock juwel 1 tube t8

would this suffice for a decent amount of corals

If you are a spark, you could defo diy a led rig - Morri did just that some time ago
