My Panaques

More importantly... I spy a L273 :D

Lol...yup you're right, i was wondering if anyone would notice that. He's great...a little nutter who never sits still when foods around. I'll get a decent picture of him one day.

I'm a bit confused by Darkstar's top photograph. Is it blue because the colour balanced was screwed up by the camera, or is it blue for real? I assumed the former, but if the latter, then the eye on that Panaque is all wrong for L027b, and it could well be L191:

Gorgeous fishes! I'd call the top one L027b, the "olive" Panaque; the lower one L190, a regular royal juvenile. Any better guesses?
So is L27b the other name for L191, the "Dull Eye Royal"? Which L number is the correct one to use? :good:

Neither to be honest, I used a blue filter in order to help bring out some detail so it is neither blue nor a screw-up...it was intentional lol and it's an L191.

here's another pic of the same fish, without the filtering:

For ID-ing purposes, it's a good idea not to use coloured filters. Anyway, yes, that second photo certainly does look like L191. They're probably all one species anyway, P. nigrolineatus with lots of geographical variation. Aquarists tend to over-split things. If we were fish, blondes, brunettes, and redheads would all be different species!

Lisa, I think your getting my old Royal.... we traded him in at paws for thought when we closed down a tank, he was still there and the only royal they had up until last week at least, and Kathy said your going to get one from there. I really hope you do get him, I'd be delighted to know he's going to such a good home! :D

his name's King Eric the Third Earl of Findom.... however don't feel obliged to keep that!!

I wasn't requesting an ID. I know what my fish are lol.

If he's 8-9" then yep, it must be the same one :) In with the discus? Someone I know on another forum saw him and wanted him but didn't have tank space so recommended him for me, and reserved him for me (thanks Mike).

He was going to be Jim, but he can stick with his old name if you like ;) Can I just call him Eric for short though, cos it's hard enough remembering the kids' names LOL

Aww shucks. How much was he marked up at?

he wasn't last time i looked, think Duncan doesn't wanna sell him cos he's tucked him away in one of the bottom tanks and not marked anything up on there. he does that with the fish he really likes!
