Roseline Sharks And Tetras? And What Tank Would You Make?

Tetras would stay in my 10 gallon if i were to get the angels. And at full length, tetras are a tasty snack for Raphael catfish also. So yeah. I i'magine i could put the Flying fox in the big tank also to make some more space, as well as the khuli loach, and get him some buds.

The last thing i may add is clown loaches, but after a long time they'd outgrown. Be Back in 3 or 4 hours. Gotta work :X

pretty negative. Although, I keep reading all these reports about only having 2 roselines and them doing "oh so excellent"

And reports of groups of 3-4 doing "WONDERFUL".

But then, everyone here does say 5-6.
My basic dissapointment is that the Senegal Bichir won't fit the tank because of 6 inches of space. That has me kinda down... I was really looking forward to having that if my 40 tank wasn't the tetra/roseline one....

but the roseline/tetra mix tank i planned is looking pretty negaitve. Every person i consider an expert here has said 5+ to the roselines.

Even if the hex is 2 1/2 feet long by 1 1/2 feet wide, it's only going to support 3 fish as big as roselines.... which is why I cant get them... 5 are necissary I guess....

But then my other plan for the 40 was 2x Angels 2x German Blue rams (not liking these guys a lot, still need to check em out in person), 1x Raphael Catfish, 1x Senegal Bichir, and toss in the flying fox. Perfect setup.

But no.... Senegal won't fit... Sigh....

So now I have to come up with some new stuff. Perhapss make it 4x khuli Loach at the bottom? But I'm super worried about them mixing it up with the Raphael catfish. The catfish at full size likes to eat neons/cardinals, as reported. Even though none would be in the tank... Something as think as a khuli Loach could be in trouble....

I was thinking as clown loaches as an alt. To the roselines, but they just get any bigger.

So basically a hole has come through both my tank plans T_T

What sorts of fish do you really, really like though? You seem to be going for a lot of very different types of fish, do you know what sort of look tank you want yet? One way to do it, is to create/decide the habitat first in your new tank and then choose the fish best suited to it.
For example, cories prefer sand over gravel, so if you have sand in your tank these fish would be suited to it.
Gourami's prefer heavily planted tanks, so if you go for lots of planting, these fish would be suited to it.
Fish like tiger barbs and neon tetras prefer moderately decorated/planted tanks with big open spaces, so if you have this type of tank they would suit it.
Pleco's and khuli loaches like lots of caves, so if you have this type of tank, they would suit it etc etc etc...

Some people go about choosing fish in terms of what area's of the tank they are most likely to inhabitat- for example, they have a selection of bottom, middle and top dwelling fish. So cories and pleco's are going to inhabit the bottom of the tank, neon tetras the middle, while fish like a Marbled Hatchet is going to be a top dweller etc.

yeah... It's just that roselines and senegal Bichirs are the two fish i have become most attracted to, yet my tanks suits neither.

The tank plan itself is going to be moderate to heavily planted. Most likely sand if i can find a black sand that grows live plants, but if nots, soft small gravle. Hmmm....

I just keep going back and forth. I may talk my mom into letting me get a stand... but that's anohter 150 I just have to pay... sigh...
