i went to a garden centre today to get some bogwood and some food (my dog ate the supplies) and i came across a rope fish, i lurved it, i asked the guy there and he said that they seem to get along with other fish. when i went home i researched it and it said it may eat small fish if it gets a bit nippy. :( if i do plan to get one which fish are considered small to it?

P.S gimma piccys of your rope fish if you got one :)

I've got three I've had for a year now. They are best in groups but that would not put me off buying one if I knew I could source others. They are extremely peaceful, very active and brilliant to watch. I've never seen mine nip anything and there is no aggression at all with the little group I have. They are the perfect oddball bar their qualities as escape artists. If there is a gap in the hood they will escape, simple as that. I fell foul of that with my first two before I got the three I have now

as for getting to three foot I seriously doubt that. Mine are about 12 inches and I can't see them getting much bigger. They eat plenty of anything, prawn, frozen blood and brine and also eat catfish pellets

do a search on reed and rope fish and you 'll see pics I've put in past along with other members pics

they're in with bigger fish at the moment and the smallest is a small silver dollar I have in a large group. he's about 2 inches
I've never seen predatory behaviour although mine are well fed. I'm sure you could try em with rainbows, larger barbs etc, obvioulsy tetras would be a food offering
