One thing i love about barbs is the way they change colour. The male Rubys look similar to the females just with a red head but once in mating dress they are full on black bodied  think i love these just as much as my Odessa's

This is something that has confused me for years. We use to have customers come into the shop and buy tiger barbs. They didn't want ruby barbs, only tigers. We showed them ruby barbs and they were similarly coloured but they wanted tiger barbs for their community tank.

I can't understand why people want a fin nipping barb (tiger barb) when the ruby barb is much more peaceful and changes colour when mature and breeding. And the colour they go is really impressive. It beats the hell out of tiger barbs where the displaying males gets red lips and that's it.

My LFS sold about a hundreds tiger barbs per week. IMO rosy barbs look cooler.

Tiger barbs are more common but your dead right, Ruby's win hands down. Better looking fish and peaceful to boot.

I like having a contrast between the looks of the males and females. Ive got 4 barb species but its like having 8 when their different looking

You should see rosy barbs that have lived outdoors in ponds that get direct sunlight. They almost glow when showing off.

o_O I can imagine that. My Rosy's like to swim across the back of the tank under the spray bar flow and the light bounces off to make them look illuminated. So i bet direct sunlight really makes them pop

Re-scaped my 15g the other week and added more driftwood. Really liked the outcome so ive pimped my big tank up with some.

I think driftwood makes such a difference to a tanks look

Me to! Only problem is that here in the states, it’s soooo expensive, I can’t afford any good pieces.

Where did you get yours? Where can I find driftwood cheap?

I really like natural tanks. No artificial plants, no fake decor. Just live stuff and decor from nature. Now that’s a tank! :D

(Any chance of a picture? :))

(My bad, the pictures just loaded. My WiFi is terrible, lol)

Very nice! That lotus certainly likes it in there. Do the maple leaves require much work, or do the otos look after them?

Starting to lose the bottom leaves off the lotus now (maybe down to the growth of my water sprite blocking some light) but it sends new pads up every week :)

Oto's and the Amanos look after everything really. Algae doesnt stand a chance

Love watching this tank in the evening. So much activity and colour. Otto's seem to be even more active with plenty of cover from above.

Ive had to thin my lotus pads and water sprite down a tad due to massive growth. Lighting in the tank still looks good tho and makes my barbs really pop. Planted back ground really helps too

Ive added some more driftwood to all my tanks lately and that as gone down well with the fish and shrimp. Wood really does look good in tanks.

Had a little move around in my 29g yesterday. Brought a nice piece of driftwood to replace a big river rock i had in it. Think this gives the fish some more swimming space and more ground surface for my Panda cories.

It still needs work but once the Anacharis and Limnophila grow in the background and cover sponge filter it will look much better :)
