River Creek 22g

Fantastic!
I like Panduro more than Macmasteri.
I used to have both of them but the gill flukes killed them a few years ago.

I bought a male Cacatuoides Orange Flash yesterday.
It's a beautiful fish.
Usually they are sold in pair.
I guess during the lockdown the female had died and they are left with only the male.
But it's an advantage to me as I only want the flashy male.
Cacatuoides orange flash's are stunning. He will certainly be a show piece in your tank.

What do you feed your apisto's? If you dont mind me asking :)

Yes, indeed it's a beautiful fish.
I put it with my Discus and one Koi Betta. So, my Discus are still the centerpiece...LOL
But I like Cacatuoides unique characteristics and its spiky fins and tail.

The Koi Betta wanted to fight with it, and the Cacatuoides fought back with "body slam" but there wasn't any contact between the two. Just showing off only... LOL

Usually if the Apistogramma came straight from the fish farm, it may refuse pellets at the beginning.
(In the farm, they are fed with mostly live food.)
But mine was at the fish store for a few months/weeks due to the lockdown(not allow to sell).
So, it has get used to eating pellets.
I used many brands but Apistogramma is also a picky eater. It will only eat small and soft pellets.

Currently, I am feeding it with Hikari Micro pellets, New Life Spectrum (Growth formula), Tropical D-50 Granules and a few other brands.
But it kept spitting out the New Life Spectrum(NLS) today which I think is a bit hard for the Apistogramma. NLS food tends to be harder and some fish like Apistogrammas and Blue Rams may not eat it though they are high quality food.
I started feeding yesterday, so still need some time to see how it respond to other brands.
I usually don't like to use live food(eg. worms) due to their risks of carrying parasites and also the trouble to look for the live food.
I know some people will breed the brine shrimps to feed them. But it's too troublesome for working people like me.

By the way, in my opinion, Hikari food are average grade food though they have the advantages of having different sizes and types of food to cater to different types of fish. Most fish will eat Hikari.

In the past, I find that my Apistogrammas would refuse most pellets food except Dr Bassleer Regular M size.
Also, I find that most picky fish will eat Dr Bassleer food. The M size is quite small/fine but it suits the Apistogrammas and Blue Rams well. I have run out of this food and may need to buy again.

I put the links for the food here.

Hikari Micro Pellet:

New Life Spectrum:
I did try some new life spectrum this morning which the male started to eat but then spat it out and left the rest so i had to take the pellets back out the tank.

Ive got some Hikari mirco pellets i can try and ill have a look into the Dr bassleer food

Ive got some frozen brineshrimp and daphnia to try also :)

:thanks:

Not the best vid im affraid  specially with the parrot barking in the background lol. Just wanted to show how bright the female is already:wub: the male has some lovely blue tones going on which looks awesome with his yellow and red fins.

Both Apisto's settling in nicely and now strolling the tank side by side. They had Hikari mirco pellets this morning which they enjoyed more than NLS. Ive not lost any Cardinals due to stress of moving etc which is also pleasing.

Checked water param's this morning and everything is as should be:)

Beautiful... I like the male blueish colour and red tail.. Nice.
The female colour is striking.

After seeing your fish, I feel like starting a new tank for Apistogrammas. LOL
I still have a 29 gallons empty tank outside my house.
I started a 15 gallons tank for Chili Rasboras on Fri. I will add shrimps into the tank when the water is more stable probably in 2-3 weeks time or longer.

Haha go for it :) its no good outside. Id love to do a harlem now. Probably a 40g breeder.

I really like my 15g, they are a nice little size tank. Ive got flame tetra in mine. What shrimp you going for?

Any pic's of your Discus tank?

My tank is a bare tank. It doesn't look good..
For Discus keeper, we usually keep them in a bare tank for easier maintenance. We feed them quite a lot and they produced a lot of waste.
I have to change my tank water 90% twice a week.
I attached some photos. But the focus is mainly on the fish.
I have two Red Melon Discus, one blue Tiger Stripes Discus, one Snakeskin and one Blue Diamond.

@Russjw are your maple leaves silk or plastic? How are they holding up? Seen some nice looking oak leaves in silk

Wow!!! Their stunning o_O colours on the red melons are unbelievable. I love the blue diamond.

Youve got some lovely discus there

I like 15 gallon too as its good for small fish.
I will look for Red Cherry Shrimps as I heard that they breed easily. Probably I will look for Red Fire colour.
I may also look for some yellow shrimps as this is a different species from Cherry shrimps and can be mixed together.
Same species should not be mixed else it may produce shrimps with brown colour or some funny colours.

Thank you!
Blue colour is nice and it will glow in the dark... Very nice colour.

Mine are silk. They are wrapped round my out/intake pipes either side with 2 suction cups in the middle to keep it in place.

But now I seem to like the small fish better. They are so cute and when you have many of them, its so nice to see them moving around everywhere and every part of the tank...
I am thinking of switching to all small fish....
Ember Tetras, Hengeli Rasboras, etc...
All are so beautiful and cute...
But Ember Tetras can attack the smaller shrimps...
I think only Chili Rasboras are safe for shrimplets.

I like the small fish. They look cool if you have enough in the groups. Hengeli Rasboras was one of my options for this tank.

When i first started i was getting a varitey of small fish in 6's but now i know better i try and get 12 plus if i can and have the space too

If you get Chili Rasboras, you can easily get 20-30 of them....
They are so tiny like the size of mosquitoes...
But I like their movement and the way they swim.

Btw, the name Hengeli sounds close to my real name...LOL
Actually I like all the Rasboras species.

I used the name Lajos Detari, which is one of the football player from Hungary...
But it's not my name...LOL
