i put my guppy [bonnie =)] in the breeding trap at about 9ish last night as she was hiding between the filter and the trap, she was practically static and she wasnt eating
but its now half 3 in the afternoon an dso far no babies, but shes still almost static in movement and not really eating, how long would this take? i dont want to stress her

ps the onlt time she gets irritated in the trap is when her otehr guppy friend comes along and she wants out, i have a little tank for emergencys/fry do you think i should transfer her and the trap there? or any ideas?

i can get pictures if you need them!

thanks in advance!

Hi, ya maybe can I have some pictures to see how big she is? I might be able to tell then... ;) (or a rough guess... lol)

if she hasn't given birth by 9pm tonight take her out again
she should only be in the trap for 24 hours at a time
you could always put her back in there in the morning

do you have a cycled filter AND HEATER for the fry tank
if it is cycled and has a heater then you can add her to that

yeah i do, but will she eat her fry if she gives birth without me knowing?
as theres only a couple of plastic plants in that tank

thanks

wouldnt she be better of leting it out for a bit now and putting it in at night dont they normaly have babies at night

she will eat some of her fry - even in the breeding traps the fry swim around and get eaten

would take her out for now. Breeding traps can be a very stressful experience for the mama. Besides, I find all my pregnant fish give birth in the morning ( I find as the sun comes up..lol). Hope you get a bunch of babies! Keep us posted!

If you are worried about predation, I had a guppy in this tank give birth today and there are quite a few swimming around. There are not as many as there would be if I had used a breeder but I just don't like to use them.

BTW the picture was taken a couple of months ago for a question about getting some cover. The clump of java moss at that time would typically save about 8 or 10 guppies in a mixed guppy tank. That tank has a male and 2 females in it. I will get a more up to date picture tonight in case it comes up again.

Mine is roughly the same size as yours and shes in the breeding trap, but nothing... :( She looks ready though, and i would hate to loose the fry so i shall just have to wait!

new pics

shes been in her own little tank for a week now and no babies, but here are some more pics if anyone is interested =]
