Riley My Mbu Is Not Well

the cloudy water will just be a bacteria bloom because of all the muck stirred up. it's completely harmless and will go in a few days so no panic's there. it's to be expected after stirring up a load of waste.

get some new big filters on the tank asap and get the last UGF out of there, then do as many water changes as needs be to clean up all the waste from the gravel/base of the tank.

thank you...thought the water was going to harm them...will be getting the filter out in a couple of hours...its realy hard with the fish in there...plus i cant reach the bottom of the tank..so have to lay on the top and bend in..if you know what i mean...would all this be whats riley back on his side ??

hi ,i`v read this thread and the other one since you started them,i know nothing about these fish but just want to say well done for trying so hard,i hope he pulls through, he`s lovely,x

thank you so much xx

Miss Wiggle is correct that the cloudiness is a bacterial bloom. Unfortunatly, that will add to your problem. This thread pretty well explains what it is. The main thing to consider is that the bacteria are breaking down the waste, trash and debris into, you guess it, ammonia. So, you will probably see a rather substantial jump in your ammonia over the next couple days.

Hang in there.
Have you tested the water since you removed the undergravel filters.

hi..oh no !!!...is there any thing i can do about the ammonia...thank you

Nothing other than water changes and Ammo-Lock. It's just going to take time for the beneficial bacteria to multiply enough to catch up.

is this why riley is worst today...going to do water test now

That's why we need to look at your latest water stats.

hi...not looking good

PH 6.0

AMMONIA 8.0

NITRITE 0 pmm

NITRATE 40

Keep going with water changes.
You need to get rehoming some fish fast.

my bad, in a tank with effective filtration it'd be no problem (the bacteria themselves don't harm the fish), yeah like this it may be an ammonia spike, however it'd only be short term until the waste is all broken down, so do as many water changes as possible and get all the waste from the UGF's out of there, when it's done the bacteria will have nothing else to break down into ammonia so will go away and you'll have no more ammonia spike.

I'm still out of town, but when I do get access to a computer, I check on Riley....Hope he makes it.... :flowers:
