Ok so Elmo has been in my LFS for almost three weeks now. Last Wednesday when I came in, he was fine, a bit pale but still he was fine. But when I came in today to my shock, his tail and pectoral fins were all torn! At first I thought he had nipped them himself but I asked and found out that he had jumped out of his 4 cm of water cup and landed in a tank of tiger barbs.

So.. here's Elmo now,

He's in a 1.5 gallon jar with a pinch of salt and some stress coat right now. Poor boy, I know his fins will never fully grow back properly, but it's worth a shot. :/

Aw, good for you; I hope he makes a speedy recovery. I wouldn't be surprised if they grew right back to thier full glamor; I've had bettas come in with nubs, and theirs all grew back. In fact, the only betta I've ever had who didn't re-grow finnage was one who chronically tail-bites. He's stopped, but he got a very nasty, hard to treat bought of fin rot from them being all chewed up, and now he has a permenantly short tail. Makes me glad enough though; now he can't reach it well enough to nip it.

Good luck with your boy! Do keep us posted.

Hmm. Well hopefully it'll grow back then. And yeah, I'll update here on his progress every now and then. :)
