Rescaped 75 Gallon

Yesterday my Mom came over and helped me rescape my 75 gallon mbuna tank. Boy was that a pain in the butt,

that's not a nice way to talk about your mother :p

nice tank, love the fish

 She knows she's a pain in the butt. j/k Actually I'm glad she came over cause it went so much faster with two people.

Mor61e I got them at a little local store called Westlake Hardware. The only rocks I could find at the chain stores were pavers, and I really didn't want a wall in the tank.

Thank you very much Naughtygrlrlw, Maximus, and Staffy.

lilmisshertz, I've used colored gravel in the past and haven't had any problems with the dye leaching, if it does, a little carbon added to your filter should clear it up. Look forward to seeing pics. :good:

Robris, I know what you mean, I had originally looks at my LFS for rocks. Unbelieveable prices, I think I paid about $30 for 160lbs of rock. I only put around 130lbs in the tank, but was able to use the extra pieces for little plant stands on my patio. Not bad if you ask me.

atmmachine, thanks for the comment, the angle of the pic is a little deceiving, you can actually see the plants pretty well, and I mainly wanted to use them to break up the background.

WOW, , those fish look absolutly amazing! i live the colour of the acei they are so deep, your tank look amazing too, you gave me a idea of what i want to do with the tank im soon getting for mbuna,

great pics!

what kind of rocks are those? I'm wanting some for my tank, but cannot seem to fins any..

Well so far so good, its kept any left over dye in the filter media, so when I do have to rinse it(in aquarium water of course  ) It should take all that away.
Theres no blue tinge in the tank at all, but to be honest, I'm kinda wishing I had chosen natural gravel lol...
It looks ok but natural would have been better now looking at the setup, heres a pic of it now ;) Sorry for using your thread, its just you asked to see pics lol ;)

By the way the pleco you see in the tank isn't bent, its where the current was swishing his tail a bit as he'd just been in it, so he was regaining his balance lol. I tried to get him going in there but he was too quick. He is not in the tank anymore, I'm waiting on it to be cycled. One of my other thread explains how I got him!! lol

I'm also ummming and arring about the pot! Although he does seem to like it :/ lol

Thanks caboose, definately looking forward to pics when you get your tank set up. :good:

mcdaniel - they're just landscaping rocks I picked up at a little hardware store called Westlake Hardware.

lilmisshertz - I'm glad to hear you didn't have any dye problems. If you don't like the rocks, wait a couple of months after your cycle is complete and then switch out for different substrate. By waiting for a couple of months, your tank will have a chance to mature, and you be less likely to have a mini-cycle. And leave the pot if the pleco likes it, I'm sure you'll see something else you like better, but at least he'll have a cave until you do.
