Hi

I would like to replace the lighting in my 90 litre tank, I have never done this before. But I have spent lots of time trying to get the tube out and it just wont come out at all, two other people have also tried.

My friend said that it is fitted to the fixture, he is much more experienced than me but I have searched on Google and cant find anything about it. I don't want to give up if there is a chance it may come out.

I have unscrewed it from the hood now and still no luck. So I have attached two pictures of the fitting, Just wondered what you think? Is it normal to not be able to remove the tube? If I had of known I would of brought a different tank.

I'm quite disappointed as I was hoping to make a moss wall for the tank

Thanks for reading

Sarah

It looks like the tube caps should simply slide off the track. It might be gummed up and need a little extra encouragement to get it off. Get something flat like a kitchen slice, turn the light unit upside down and tap the cap along the track to help it off.

Make sure you unplug that fixture before trying anything but a simple lamp replacement. We want all of our members to be able to come back again tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately the tube cannot be removed.

I believe that they may be lighting units, rather than separate tubes. You can buy similar looking units, but I'm not sure what power you'd need for the one you have.

Is there a way you could attach a normal tube into the hood of the tank with a standard ballast?
